Pool Repair Business Spotlight - On the Spot Leak Detection & Pool Repair - DFW Metroplex


If you live in Texas, having a house with a Pool is quite great and some might argue that they're a necessity! In fact, I'm one of those people who argue that Pools are a MUST if you live in Texas since our summer heat is no joke! But let's be real ... Pools are great, until there's a problem :| As a home owner with a pool I am all too familiar with this stressful feeling ... we must not only be vigilant with our house foundation but also our pool. The same clay soil that causes "foundation" issues for homes in the DFW area is the same that causes issues with the piping for pools.


If you're in the DFW area, and have the unfortunate stress of thinking you might possibly have a Pool Leak, then please let me recommend our "go to Pool Repair Heroes", ON THE SPOT! I have personally used them for both Pool Repairs & Peace of Mind. They come out and do a Ultrasonic Leak Detection Test which will either ease your worry and concern or will pin point the area of the leak. Their equipment along with their intuitiveness from years of experience is bar-none!

Here's a recap of their last visit to repair our busted pipe ... 



We noticed we were losing more water than usual so we did our usual "tape on the wall" test and the "bucket" test. While we were doing those tests, my husband noticed the ground by the hot tub was mushy ... so he dug a little hole and it filled up with water! Eeeeeek ... we no doubt had a leak! So he calls and sends an email to Candy at ON THE SPOT, but it's a Sunday so the stress really intensifies because we know that most Pool Repair companies are booked during this time of year and typically aren't able to come out for a week or 3. To our surprise, within 15 minutes of the email being sent, we received a call from Candy telling us that they'll be there first thing on Monday, as in, the very next day! 

The repair technician who came out, Dakota, was AWESOME! He found the problem from the hole we dug and did the Ultrasonic test to make sure we didn't have any other leak areas, which thankfully we did not, he walked me through the issue as well as the repair options we had along with the pricing for each. He made the repair and patched back the grass which was torn apart to access the busted pipes. 

Thinking he was done, I went to the driveway to meet him however, he was actually in the backyard with a Broom sweeping all the mud and gunk off of the pool decking AND then got our Skimmer Net to clean out debris that got in the pool! Dakota was thorough in his work and in his clean up!

March Clean Up Campaign - Rowlett, TX - 2017


That's right City of Rowlett residents, let your Spring Cleaning begin because the City of Rowlett is providing a FREE drop off location & FREE disposal of your unwanted Residential Non Hazardous Bulky Items and Residential Brush (branches, weeds, grass, bushes, ect)! So start trimming those trees & cleaning out your garage and closets!


The FREE "March Clean Up Campaign" will last the whole month of March. The City of Rowlett will have Dumpsters located on 1904 Castle Dr (just east of Rowlett Rd) and will be open daily from 10a-6pm, unless it's raining. 

*Be sure to bring your Drivers License or a Utility Bill to show proof of residence.




Please do NOT bring ... 

  • TV's/Computers ... call IESI (972-475-3600) to schedule a pick up
  • Automobile Parts, 
  • Batteries, 
  • Liquids (paint, motor oil, solvents, ect), 
  • Chemicals (pesticides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, ect), and/or no 
  • Freon or Freon Containing Appliances (ac's, freezers, refrigerators, ect). 
  • Dirt, 
  • Rocks, or 
  • Concrete 

AND don't forget City of Rowlett Residents, you are allowed 2 FREE passes per year to dispose of Household Trash, Bulky Items like furniture, Brush or Wood Waste, and Construction/Demolition Debris at the Hinton Landfill(3175 Elm Grove Rd, Garland). 

To obtain your passes, simply take your Drivers License & Water Bill to either the Public Works Department (4310 Industrial St), Business Office in the Annex Building (4004 Main St), or the City Secretary's Office at City Hall (4000 Main St).

*When you're ready to use your FREE Rowlett Resident Hinton Landfill Pass, be sure to take your Drivers License AND your current Water Bill to show proof of residency.

Recycling Around the Lake Ray Hubbard Area - Cities of Garland, Rowlett, Rockwall, Wylie, Sachse and Murphy

I am a conscientious RECYCLER though I honestly admit that while I do try my best to recycle in my home & take my own bags to stores, I'm only scratching the surface compared to most people who are diehard recyclers

I understand the basic ideas behind recycling ... We need less trash in our dumps & we need to do our part to help in the reduction of natural resources.trash dump

In researching the recycling programs that are around Lake Ray Hubbard, I'm happy & am thankfull that the Cities of Garland, Rowlett, Rockwall, Wylie, Sachse and Murphy have a recycling programs and understand that having "Curb-Side" pick up for recycling is important to have more of their residents recycle.


The City of Rowlett, City of Rockwall, City of Wylie, and the City of Murphy have recycling pick up ONCE a week & the City of Garland and City of Sachse has it EVERY OTHER week.

Home Inspections Are a MUST When Buying A Home!

Home Inspections ... should you have one??? YES you should most certainly have one! ~ Should you get a Home Inspections if the Seller already has one??? YES you should most certainly get one! ~ Should you get a Home Inspections if you're buying a New Build Home??? YES you should most certainly have one!

Home Inspections are, in my book, a MUST whether you're buying a New Build House or a Previously Owned House. You wouldn't buy a car without knowing it's history or how it runs! Inspections allow the buyer to receive factual information on the condition of the house. The Big 5 that really need to be examined by the Buyer are:
  1. Foundation
  2. Heating/Cooling System
  3. Roof
  4. Plumbing
  5. Electrical
... and in Texas, let's add Termites or other Wood Destroying Insects.


Inspectors are extremely thorough with the inspection and will typically be at the home for 3+ hours checking EVERYTHING and then some ... so don't be surprised if your Inspection Report is close to 40 pages! Most will include pictures with special notes & diagrams, which is useful when conveying the items you wish to be repaired by the seller AND you can refer to it at a later date.


Once the Buyer and Seller agree on the repairs, it's important that those repairs are done by Licensed Professionals. Be sure to get the receipt from the Seller so you know who to contact if the issue occurs again and if a warranty was given, it can switched to your name.


Now, not only do you get to find out the condition of the property but you also get a chance to learn some great tips on how to fix the issues as well as tips on how to prevent issues. I personally learn something new every time I'm with a buyer for an Inspection! Here's a few that I have learned and often hear ...


  • For people, an Apple a day may keep the Doctor away but for a House, watering the soil around your house keeps the Foundation Company away!

  • Satellite Dishes screwed onto the roof often times aren't sealed properly or the seal wears away w time & allows rain to sweep through the screw holes. Easy Fix ... purchase Black Roof Tar from Lowe's/Home Depot & apply around the screws.
  • All Outlets have a "master" & the others in circuit are "slaves" ... meaning that if 1 of the slave outlets isn't working simply Reset the Master outlet & wallah
  • Acrobat Ants, which are not 1 of the 16 Wood Destroying Insects, can do as much damage as Carpenter Ants & it's important to have your house treated for them as well.
